\"Títt orð er ein lykt fyri fóti mínum, eitt ljós á gøtu míni\" (Sl 119,105).

Guds orð er eitt ljós í myrkrinum, sum vísir okkum vegin heim til himmals. Sambært Bíbliuni eru tað bara tveir vegir, sum vit menniskju kunnu ganga á: glatunarvegurin ella hin ævigi vegurin (Sl 139,24). Og Bíblian vísir okkum á hin æviga vegin. Gud er jú ein frelsandi Gud, sum vil leiga øll menniskju heim til sína ævigu nærveru. Tí hevur hann eisini givið okkum eitt ljós, so at vit finna vegin heim. Hann hevur givið okkum sítt orð. Hann hevur givið okkum Bíbliuna!

Í bókini Kristus og Skriftin sigur Hugo Odeberg: “Tá ið vit lesa, endurtaka og granska Skriftina, treingir hon inn um medvitið og inn til djúpasta upphav okkara og fremur har verk sítt. “Tí at Guds orð er livandi og máttmikið og hvassari enn nakað tvíeggjað svørð, og fer inn ígjøgnum, til tað skilir sál og anda, liðir og merg, og dømir hugsanir og ráð hjartans” Hebr. 4,12.
